The 5 Best Video Games Of 2012

Asked by: 35 views Uncategorized

This year, we’ve been treated to a number of blockbuster games that completely eclipsed movie industry box office sales. Titles like Mass Effect 3, Halo 4, Diablo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 grossed enough cash to fund a small country. Though most of 2012’s greatest hits were sequels, indie companies like ThatGameCompany and Telltale Games broke ground with newbies like Journey and The Walking Dead.

As the days continue to fly by and focus our minds e-sms on 2013, we decided to share our grand list of games that kept our console fans spinning and our significant others angry. Get ready to send us your hate-tweets, here’s The 25 Best Video Games Of 2012

1. Sine Mora

Sine Sora was praised for its stunning visuals, 2.5D gameplay (the environment and objects are rendered in 3D, while the gameplay runs along a 2D plane), and steeply rewarding difficulty levels all helped the title round out our 2012 Best Of list.

2. Darksiders II

Getting to ride a steed named Despair, slaying your way through Hell and back, and just being a damn ton of fun to play Darksiders II made it onto our list. Puzzle solving and RPG elements all made this sequel worthy of another entry into the franchise.

3. Sleeping Dogs

Anyone who loves the double-fisted, gun-busting action of Hong Kong crime movies will instantly understand what’s going on in Sleeping Dogs. Originally set to be a sequel in the once hailed True Crime games, Sleeping Dogs mixes martial arts with gritty street drama for an adrenaline charged and at times frustratingly difficult ride through HK’s underbelly. What can we say, we’re gluttons for punishment.

4. Spec Ops: The Line

Just when we thought it was going to be yet another shooter, Spec Ops: The Line tossed a curveball with an engaging storyline and seamless gameplay that brought the cut-scenes and actual play together perfectly. Without a doubt, this foray through gunplay is top notch stuff.

5. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

One of the first games to pay true and full homage to old-school Transformer fans. Fall of Cybertron was a huge exploration of the Generation 1 universe, introducing new fans to classic characters and settings. A beefy two-sided campaign and an improved multiplayer still have us playing the game.
